Secure Entry Construction is Complete

Over the summer, construction was completed at seven schools, including EHS, Woodland, Columbus, Leclaire, Nelson, Hamel, and Glen Carbon, to add secure double-entry vestibules.

District #7 Announces Approval of New Contract With Edwardsville Education Association

EDWARDSVILLE — Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7 has announced the approval of a new two-year contract with the Edwardsville Education Association (EEA) that reinforces the district’s commitment to supporting and valuing its certified staff. The contract was ratified by the EEA and approved unanimously (7-0) by the Board of Education at a special meeting this evening. The agreement provides increased benefits and strengthens the overall employee experience within the district.

Culture in the Classroom

While walking through the halls of Liberty Middle School, a display of student work caught my attention. Rachel Harris, an eighth grade Social Studies teacher at Liberty Middle School recently granted her students the power to use the magic of AI to transform abolitionists who lived several lifetimes past into futuristic superheroes. I was intrigued.

District #7 has been chosen by First Student to pilot their new FirstView 1.0 app, making us the largest district to test this updated platform ahead of its official launch in the summer of 2025.

Herman Shaw's dedication to giving back has made a lasting impact on our community and District #7. As a founder of the historic Lincoln School Alumni Foundation, Shaw and fellow alumni have been providing scholarships to deserving students and funding for a home-school liaison since 1986.
